OHS Officers are ramping up their efforts with increased visits to residential building sites this summer. They are focusing on compliance and are issuing tickets to offenders on the spot with the intent of making safety a priority in the residential building industry.

In 2014 the number of falls from roofs was recorded at 20 and OHS has seen a decrease to 6 falls for the year of 2015. They believe that this decrease is in part from their efforts to visit more residential job sites, where they are issuing on the spot tickets for infractions.

“People take short cuts and we have to change that culture,” said Jim Rivait, CEO of the Canadian Home Builders’ Association - Alberta.

At Safety Evolution we feel we can help you and your workers to ensure compliance by providing you with an affordable and comprehensive Safety Management System (SMS). The Safety Evolution SMS allows employers to provide their workers with the safety policies, practices, procedures and inspection protocols needed to implement their safety program.

The employer can provide clear expectations to the workers through the system to educate the work force ad the expected safety requirements of the company and the law. Employers can verify that the workers are following the system.

Education and accountability are the backbone of any strong safety culture. At Safety Evolution we understand the difficulty most employers have in confirming that their workers are following the system and have addressed this gap for the employer. Safety Evolution’s SMS was designed with ease of use in mind by safety professionals who understand your challenges as a business owner and allow anyone to implement a successful health and safety program.
